Exemptions will be allowed for medical or religious reasons.Human Resources Generalist(Work Remote 2 Days Weekly)Position OverviewCombine your passion with purpose! Make a positive difference as a valued HR partner and advisor with the Arizona Humane Society. Provide guidance to management on employee relations and performance concerns to contribute to high employee morale and organizational performance and minimize risk. Serve as the primary point of contact for full employee lifecycle matters. Execute all aspects of HR administration.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential FunctionsRespond to and resolve employee questions and concerns promptly.Manage FMLA, ADA and employee leaves of absences.Conduct exit interviews and respond to unemployment claims.Approve benefits enrollments and answer benefits questions.Provide counsel to management and lead termination meetings.Perform monthly, quarterly and annual HR administrative tasks such as anniversary awards, EEO reporting, benefits open enrollment, etc.Maintain accurate HR data and employee files. Compile reports.Lead and execute the organization’s Maricopa County Trip Reduction Program including monthly winners.Participate in compensation surveys, and update AHS compensation ranges annually or as needed.Oversee wellness initiatives such as nicotine cessation and annual biometric screenings.Make recommendations on improving HR processes.Provide support for ad-hoc HR projects such as the rollout of new policies or procedures.Other duties as assigned.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.QualificationsEducation / Certifications / Licenses:Professional in Human Resources (PHR or SHRM) certification preferredBachelor’s degree in related field strongly preferredKnowledge of employment and labor laws in order to ensure organizational complianceExperience:At least 2 years of HR experienceExperience with payroll / HR system such as PaylocityExperience managing FMLA and ADA processesKnowledge / Skills / Abilities:Excellent organizational, customer service, oral and written communication skillsProven record of handling sensitive issues with discretion and careAbility to plan and prioritize work activities and work autonomouslyAble to speak, read, write and understand English. Spanish a plusAdvanced Word & Excel skills; ability to learn new programs as neededOther:Regular attendance, punctuality and access to reliable transportation required.Work Environment / Physical Demands:The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
